Workers of Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra Call Off Strike Workers of the Golden Tulip hotel in Accra have called off their three hour strike over poor conditions of service and mismanagement. The workers took the decision after the Deputy General Secretary of the Industrial and Commercial Union (ICU) Emmanuel Benimah called on them to suspend the strike while their concerns are addressed. They went on strike because management does not care about their conditions of service but engage in profligate spending in the renovation of the Hotel and huge allowances paid to themselves. A member of the union, Solomon Nii Odoi Laryea, said they are leaving nothing to chance, should their grievances be ignored. The Vice Chairman of the Local Union of the Golden Tulip Hotel, Awal Mohammed urged the workers to remain calm once they have the assurance of the mother union, the Industrial and Commercial Union. The police were there to ensure peace. GBC
