Twelve suspected armed robbers placed in police custody Twelve suspected armed robbers have been arrested and placed in Police custody for allegedly committing different forms of crime. These include illegal possession of fire arms, car snatching, as well as high way robbery. The suspects are believed to have committed the crimes at different locations within and outside the Kumasi Metropolis. Briefing the media in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye named the suspects as Musah Kassim a driver aged 56, Mohammed Oliver a trader, aged 51, Yusif Musah aged 31 an illegal miner Alidu Issifu a farmer aged 25, and one other now at large. They are reported to have hired a Toyota Hiace Bus with registration number GT 1727-14 driven by one Eric Asante Bediako from Kumasi to Mankessim in the Central Region for a funeral and agreed on a fare of six hundred Cedis. DCOP Boakye said the suspects later tied Bediako's hands with a rope and covered his mouth with an insulation tape and abandoned him by the road side and sped off. The complainant later made a report to the police where an SOS message was sent to all police stations in the country for the arrest of the suspects and the vehicle. They were later intercepted at Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo Region. Meanwhile, the Fomena District Command has arrested one Joseph Kwaku Dery who was in possession of a locally made pistol.
