Chief Fishermen Assist Police on Checking Illegal Fishing Nets of Fisheries Enforcement Unit   

 The Chief Fishermen of New Amanful and Funko in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region who allegedly incited people in the two communities to attack a team of the Fisheries Enforcement Unit checking  illegal fishing nets  have been  apprehended. 

The National Coordinator of the Unit,  Naval  Captain,  Emmanuel Kwafo who announced  this at a media briefing in Takoradi said two vehicles belonging to the navy and one fisheries commission vehicle where damage in the process. 

He said the unit is determined to enforce the law and warned that anyone who stops the personel from doing their work will be arrested and prosecuted.
