20th August, 2014 The Daily Graphic commends government for the start of work to revive the Komenda Sugar Factory. To the paper the move is commendable as it is expected to provide direct jobs to 400 people and 2000 out grower farmers. The paper says in order to improve the country's economy, the effort at reviving the sugar factory should be replicated in other areas where such projects have been left to rot. The Daily Graphic believes that history should be the guiding principle to ensure that the country does not crucify again the factory that is being resurrected. The Ghanaian Times commends President John Mahama for reviving the Komenda Sugar Factory in the Central Region, as it will encourage the production of goods locally and increase exports. The paper thinks the good news is that while the new factory will provide sustainable jobs, the monies saved from sugar importation can be channelled into other productive sectors to expand the economy. The Times hopes the success of the new Komenda Sugar Plant would encourage the establishment of other factories in the country. The Daily Heritage is worried Ghanaians are not taking precautionary measures to avoid contracting the deadly Ebola Virus. In the paper's view, despite the noise that has been made about the Ebola disease, many Ghanaians still don't know what precautions to take as the central government plays its part to prevent the disease from entering the country. The Heritage advises that time spent on the internet for unprofitable ventures be used to research into the disease and vital lessons learnt. GBC
