19th August, 2014 The Daily Graphic says the recent arrest of a police Inspector stationed at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Central Region for allegedly stealing electric cables is very significant. To the paper, the police arresting one of their own is an indication that they are not as biased as the public perceives them. The Graphic commends the patrol team for being diligent and calls on the police administration to look out for factors that make policemen behave in such manner and address them. The Graphic also advises the Police Service to deal ruthlessly with those whose acts tend to bring the name of the service into disrepute. The Ghanaian Times welcomes the directive of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), on investigations into allegation that some officials of the Ministry of Roads and Highways and its agencies are forming companies and bidding for contracts. The paper says since President Mahama has launched a crusade against corrupt practices it is disheartening that some dubious public officials, whose duty is to award contracts and supervise the job are rather milling the nation of its scarce resources. The paper therefore hopes the investigation would not end like previously where the culprits were left to go scot free. The Daily Heritage is urging the public to adopt a patriotic attitude in the wake of the Ebola in other West African countries. To the paper, since the outbreak everybody seems to be concerned about themselves. The Daily Heritage also notes that in spite of the hullabaloo about the Ebola disease in major cities, a lot of people in the rural areas do not know much about the virus and how to prevent it in case it breaks out in the country.
