Benjamin William Graham [GTV Sports] He comes from Akim in the western region. He was born on 11th November 1983 and is the last of 7 children. He had his early education at St Francis Primary School and continued to St Augustine’s College in Cape Coast. He then joined the Ghana Institute of Journalism from 2007-2009. He started working for Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) in 2003 as a sports presenter on radio central. I asked of his memorable moment in life and he said “the first time l went on air to present sports news” and his saddest moment was in 2010, when his girl friend fell sick and died in his arms asking for a hug. That was the most unbearable pain he had ever experienced. He loves reading investigative novels, watching investigative and action movies and playing soccer at his leisure time. He’s been in two relationships in the past and has been single since the death of his girlfriend. I asked how he met his late girlfriend, who was the love of his life, and he said “we met in GBC, specifically in the news room one afternoon”. The late Miss Freda Frimpong was a national service personnel in GBC. Afterwards one thing led to the other and they became sweet hearts, [the hottest on the block of course], until she suffered from pneumonia for two weeks and departed from the world, may her soul rest in perfect peace. His secret to a successful life is hard work and he expressed gratitude to the GBC deputy director general Mr Kwabena Sarpong-Anane and all who have been a source of encouragement to him. Apart from sports he presents documentaries and Health Promotion Officer-a program on GTV breakfast show on Saturdays which deals in health issues such as causes, prevention and solutions to certain diseases. His ultimate dream is to become a legal practitioner and his role model is Russell Fuller a sports broadcaster of BBC and Anderson Cooper a news anchor of CNN. I asked of what makes him different from the other presenters and he said he uses BBC and CNN standards to set standards for himself. Finally he advises that all upcoming presenters should be humble and focused in all that they do. His favourite and personal quotation: “Let your talent be a blessing to others”.
