Jacob Narh Nortah (GBC Radio Sports)
Jacob Narh Nortah (affectionately called DJ Chuku) was born on 23rd September 1984 to Mr Samuel Tekutey Nortah and Miss Grace Asase Ametslor at the Tema General Hospital.
He attended Salet International School at Tema and Akodzo Junior High School also in Tema for his basic education then continued at Nungua Secondary school for his secondary education. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Jayee University College and just completed GBC’s Radio and Television Training School with a certificate in broadcasting techniques.
Jacob Narh Nortah a Ga-Dangme from Ningo-Prampram in the Greater Accra Region and the fifth born of ten children.
Jacob is a broadcast journalist and sports commentator with Uniiq Fm of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation. He is also an assistant editor and regular presenter of sports programme on “Ghana Today” on Radio Ghana.
Jacob in his mid-twenties [20’s] has worked with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation both on radio and television since October 2008 when he was on contract before he became a permanent staff in September 2010.
Web Xtra delved into his personal life and he was really happy to reveal himself to us.
Web Xtra: How many relationships have you been through so far?
Jacob: He answers with [Oohhh] plenty, and I don’t remember. Web Xtra finds out if he can recollect a date but he seems not to be sure.
Web Xtra went further to ask if he has ever experienced any broken heart.
Jacob: Yes, with Anita in 2005.
Web Xtra: Who was to be blamed for the break-up or broken-heart?
Jacob: She is to be blamed because according to her, it was a long-distance relationship and she also termed it “Help me finish my course” so she decided to end, so that is what I encountered from her [I exclaim, that was very painful, [he also cuts in] hmmmm, that was what I went through.
Web Xtra: Are you in any new relationship? [He answers sharply].
Jacob: Yes, but reluctant to disclose the identity of the lady in question for security reasons only known to him.
Web Xtra wanted to find out how old his new relationship is but [he answers] I don’t know.
Web Xtra asked whether he is a virgin and he says “No, [adding] I fire well, well, I don’t joke at all. [I chip in] then that means you have been a bad boy a long time ago, [he laughs].
Web Xtra: Would you like to marry a virgin?
Jacob: No I don’t like a virgin simply because I am not one, so it will be difficult to deal with one.
Web Xtra: When do you intend to marry in your new relationship?
Jacob: Anytime appropriate, he adds I would like to marry two women, that is being a holy polygamist and secondly because of my money, being surprised I asked him if it was a joke but he was really serious with it.
Web Xtra: What is your favourite dish?
Jacob: Hmmmm, plantain and kontomire stew, rich jollof rice and lastly, Banku with Soup sometimes.
Web Xtra: What of perfumes?
Jacob: Global man and Miyake.
Web Xtra: Any particular clothes?
Jacob: Yes, suits and ties for special occasions, African wear, short and long-sleeved shirts for work.
Web Xtra: Where do you hang out after a stressful week?
Jacob: At the pool side or the beach, but doesn’t mention any particular location.
When I asked of his saddest moment he said when I lost my elder brother and when a loved one died.
Web Xtra: Have you experienced any sad moments?
Jacob: Yes, when I lost my elder brother
Web Xtra: What of your happiest moment?
Jacob: When I always share it with my family or having good time with my girlfriend cruising at the Dodi Island or any romantic place.
Web Xtra found out from him what he likes or loves most?
Jacob: Going to church is something I always love.
Web Xtra: Anyway, where would you love to meet your spouse?
Jacob: Meeting her at the church, [I also add] but you are not doing what is right to meet the requirements, [he says]; Ohhhh forget it.
Web Xtra: What do you love about your work?
Jacob: Everything about work is enjoyable. [I ask is it because of the solli?] He answers bluntly no.
Web Xtra: [Finding out what people think about him] He laughs and adds, Oohh plenty things both negative and positive. Most people say I am calm, others say I am very very controversial, the last batch of people say I am very respectful. Oh I love this; he gives me a handshake and a smile.
Web Xtra finds out from him how he perceives himself, he answers
Jacob: I’m a hardworking, philanthropic guy, calm and serious with my maker [was thinking about what to say next though].
Web Xtra: What are your last words to the public?
Jacob: I will just tell them to love their neighbour as themselves and pray without ceasing as the Bible has said so that they may not enter into temptations.
Jacob is a Christian and loves to cruise and travel when off-duty, playing football, watching porn movies and writing.
Jacob values his job as a broadcast journalist and has lots of ambitions for the future. He hopes to become one of the best journalists in the country [otherwise win the journalist of the year award] and the whole of Africa and also to become an army officer.
