Amendment of National Service Act calls for enforcement of military training for interns The Ministry of Education has begun working on possible processes which could lead to the amendment of Act 426 of the National Service Scheme. Under the new Act, National Service Personnel are required to render mandatory service of two years including a minimum of six months military training. In 1995, the two year duration was changed to one year. Deputy Minister In Charge of Tertiary Education, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced this in Accra at this year's stakeholders Conference of the Ghana National Service Scheme. He said after 30 years of enacting the Act, some processes have not been duly followed hence the need for possible amendment. GBC
