WHO Announces 100 Million Dollar Emergency Response Plan for West Africa The head of the World Health Organization and leaders of West African nations affected by the Ebola outbreak are to announce a joint 100 million dollars response plan. They will meet in Guinea tomorrow to launch the initiative aimed at tackling a virus which has claimed 729 lives. In a statement the Director General of Margaret Chan said the scale of the Ebola outbreak, and the persistent threat it poses, requires WHO and Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone to take the response to a new level, and this will require increased resources, in-country medical expertise, regional preparedness and coordination.
