GRWU Embark on a Nationwide Sit Down Strike The Ghana Rail Workers Union has embarked on a nationwide sit down strike to express its frustration over poor conditions of service. The workers say their condition is dire that some senior managers still take monthly salary of nine hundred and eighty-three Ghana cedis. The workers last two weeks, served notice that they will withdraw their services and stage protests to demand better working conditions. In an interview with Radio Ghana, the Chairman of the Union, Alex Nana Boateng, said the strike has become relevant since government has refused to address their concerns. Mr. Boateng said though they have proposed a meeting with President Mahama to discuss their challenges, they will not call off the strike. He urged government to resource the sector to make it self-sufficient. Source: GBC
