Farmers from Upper West Region Cry for Government Intervention to Reduce High Tractor and Fertilizer Cost. Members of the Sisala Farmers Association in the Upper West Region say food production in the area would be badly affected if government does not intervene to bring down the cost of fertilizer, and tractor services. According to the farmers, a bag of fertilizer is sold at hundred Ghana Cedis as against fifty Cedis last year while the cost of tractor services has also increased from fifty to sixty Ghana cedis per acre this year. Addressing a news conference at Tumu the secretary of the association, Adamu Yakubu said government should provide subsidies on tractor services and fertilizers to the farmers to enable them to produce this year.
