International community marks World Home Economics Day Home Economics is a subject that incorporates pertinent life skills of interpersonal and personal development that help individuals and families to succeed in their present lives and constantly be of use as they continue into the future. In Ghana, weak students are selected by the computerised school selection programme to read the subject. This has created the impression that home economics is to be studied by the academically weak students. Interest shown by some school administrators in the subject also leaves much to be desired. As the world marks World Home Economics Day today, the Ghana Home Economics Association has in a statement called on government and relevant authorities to show more commitment to the course, by providing the necessary funds and equipment to support its teaching and learning in schools. The Association also appealed to all to change their perception about the subject. GBC
