8th March, 2013 The Daily Graphic appeals to factions in the renewed clash between Konkombas and Bimobas to lay down their weapons and smoke the peace pipe. It says they must bear in mind that it is only in an atmosphere of peace that the government can carry out its programmes to improve the lives of the people. The Paper calls on the police to avoid any highhandedness in the maintenance of peace in the area .This will prevent inflaming passions and aggravating the volatile situation in the area. Let's stop the Buga-Buga nonsense is how the Ghanaian Times captions its editorial. The Times expresses shock at the behaviour of the military officers who manhandled two photo journalists at the 56th Independence Day parade in Accra while they were going about their lawful duties. The paper describes the incident as shameful and unfortunate especially as it occurred in a constitutional era. The times says it is unacceptable in this time and age for men in uniform to attack civilians in their line of duty without due regard to chapter two of the 1992 constitution. The paper finds it surprising that since the assault was reported the military hierarchy has been silent on it. It therefore calls for the matter to be investigated immediately and the soldiers involved disciplined. GBC
