Woyome Trial Resumes

A former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Linux Vanlare Dooso, has appeared before the Financial Division one of the Fast Truck High Court in Accra, as the fifth prosecuting witness in the on-going trial of businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome. 

Mr. Vanlare Dooso, is the first witness to testify after the case took a break. 

He told the Court in his evidence in-chief, that he was a Vice Chair to the Stadium Bidding Committee for the Cup of African Nations, CAN 2008. 

He also held the Chairmanship position on the Local Organising Committee. 
The witness also chaired the Sub Committee that looked at the two final biddings for the construction of the stadium. 

He said he last saw the terms of reference in 2005, and it was the responsibility of the committee he served on, to ascertain the viability of the bids, especially, the financial components. 

The committee also had to consider whether or not, the two outstanding companies, VAMED and Epiferm were genuine and reliable institutions, and also consider, the timeliness of the project regarding its monetary funding. He observed from the evaluation report already in evidence, that the bidding committee sat for two days. 

Mr. Vanlare Dooso said proposals from the two shortlisted firms VAMED and Epiferm had concessionality terms,  and was about briefing the court with the details, when the recording machines, developed a technical fault. 

Presiding  judge, Mr. Justice John Ajet Nassam therefore adjourned to the 5th of March. 

The State was heavily represented by the Attorney-General, Marietta Brew Oppon-Appiah, the Solicitor General, Ama Gaise and two Chief State Attorneys, Cynthia Lamptey and Mathew Amponsah.
