New Health Minister assumes office The new Minister of Health, Ms. Sherry Ayittey, formally assumed office on Monday, after receiving handing over notes from the immediate past Minister of the sector Ministry, Mr. Alban S.K. Bagbin. This was contained in a statement signed by Head of Public Relations of the Ministry of Health, Mr Dan Osman Mwin, copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Tuesday. The statement said Mr Bagbin suggested that Ms Ayittey should be allowed to head the Ministry for a long period to enable her to settle properly to address challenges, instead of the situation in the past four years which witnessed as many as four Ministers. It said Mr Bagbin wished Ms Ayittey well and called on staff of the Ministry as well as stakeholders to support her to be able to handle the numerous challenges confronting the sector. the statement further said Mr Bagbin asked Ms Ayittey to follow up on a proposal for the establishment of a television channel to focus on health issues. According to the statement, Ms Ayittey pledged to promote good working relationship with the staff of the Ministry, and appealed to them to keep support her to deliver. Director of Human Resource for Health Development at the Ministry, Dr Frank Nyonator, the statement said, promised the workers support and cooperate to enable her steer the affairs of the Ministry.
