The Daily Graphic supports the call by the President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace at the Vatican, Peter Cardinal Appiah Turkson for journalists to see themselves as prophets of the nation. Speaking at the 17th GJA Awards in Accra, Cardinal Appiah Turkson said journalists have the responsibility of announcing events or things that will happen, criticising wrong doing in society and consoling society when they have to bear the consequences of their actions. The Graphic says under the country's democratic dispensation, citizens must unite and uphold common values which will help them hold their political leaders accountable. It says this can only be done when the people are well informed about the functions of the various institutions under the government.  The paper believes the media should lead the way by educating the people for them to make informed choices during elections. 

The Today Newspaper further cautions journalists to shy away from things that do not promote peace. It agrees with Peter Cardinal Appiah Turkson in urging journalists to continue to be prophets of the society, knowing when to criticise capture the national vision and share it with the public. The paper urges journalists who have started exploiting the internal cracks in political parties for their selfish interest to desist from such acts. It says journalists must not be in a hurry to relay information without looking at the consequences but be guided by their political, ethical and professional standards with a sense of vision for the national good. 

The Ghanaian Times calls on Churches and Christians in general to be actively involved in the fight against corruption, moral decadence and the culture of insults among politicians.  It says the Church exerts a lot of influence in shaping the mind set and attitudes of people and cannot look on unconcerned as the country experiences the emergence of divisive politics, especially in an election year. The Paper also calls on politicians to see those who disagree with them as opponents seeking the common good of the nation and not as enemies.
