Communities along White Volta respond positively to flood alert ahead of expected spillage of Dams in Burkina Faso The National Disaster Management Organisation says people living along the White Volta in the Upper East Region are responding to flood alert messages. This is to help reduce the loss of lives and property to the barest minimum this year when the Bagre and Kompienga Dam in Burkina Faso are opened on Friday. The Upper East Regional Co-ordinator of NADMO, Patrick Akake, told Radio Ghana that government is considering building a dam very soon at Pwalugu to harvest volumes of water that cause floods in the region each year. Meanwhile, Radio Ghana’s correspondent who visited some communities likely to be affected when the Bagre and Kompienga Dam open reports that unlike previous times, the people are moving from the low lands to the high level lands. This is as result of adequate education that they have received. GBC
