MOFA releases four varieties of food crops The Ministry of Food and Agriculture in partnership with CSIR has released four varieties of food crops with the view to increase yields, farmer’s income and reduce poverty. The new varieties are Maize, Cocoyam, Cowpea and Groundnut. The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Kwesi Ahwoi announced this at the launch of the Harmonised document for the release and registration of crop varieties in Africa. He said inconsistencies in the variety of crops among ECOWAS member countries are hampering free movement within the Sub-region. GBC
