Greater Accra assured of access to potable water Access to potable water has been a major challenge to both rural and urban dwellers. The problem is even more pronounced in parts of the national capital, Accra. Successive governments have attempted in various ways to deal with the challenge by privatising management of urban water production. But that could also not solve the problem. The current administration therefore decided not to renew the management contract with AVRL when it expired about a year ago, and instead set up the Ghana Urban Water Limited. But how has this new company fared? Bubu Klinogo has been finding out in this interview with the PRO of the Company, Stanley Martey, who gave the assurance that access to potable water in Accra will increase from the current 65 to 95 percent in two to three years time.
