Minister worried over 'extortion' in Ghana's health sector

The Minister of Health, Alban Sumana Bagbin, has expressed worry about the alleged extortion of money by some unscrupulous healthcare workers from patients before rendering legitimate services.  

Mr. Bagbin consequently charged healthcare personnel to refrain from the practice which according to him is an impediment to quality healthcare delivery as well as an indictment on their reputation. 

The Health Minister said this during the launch of the National Diabetes Awareness Week in Sunyani. The focus of this year’s celebration is “Self motivation; the key for survival”.
