Mortal Remains Of Professor Atta Mills Finally Laid To Rest 

The mortal remains of the late President John Evans Atta Mills has been laid to rest at the official burial site, the Geese Park following a final burial service at the Black Star Square in Accra. 

His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama as well as some 18 African Heads of State, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and delegates from across more than 40 nations in the world took part in the final burial service of the late president. 

Every part of the Geese Park and Black Star Square was filled with mourners who have come from far and near to pay their last respect to their late President and Commander in Chief. 

On behalf of government and the people of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama laid the first wreath followed by Her Excellency Dr Naadu Mills, who laid the second wreath. 

The third wreath was laid by Dr Cadman Atta Mills on behalf of the late President’s Family. Next was a wreath from the Council of Elders laid by Mrs Mary Grant. 

Parliament of Ghana laid the fifth wreath and the final wreath was laid by the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lt Gen Peter Augustine Blay on behalf of the Security Services. 

The service was officiated by the Chairman of the National Peace Council, the Most Rev Prof Emmanuel Asante. 

Earlier, the Presidential gun carriage casket was carried orderly in procession through some Principal streets in Accra before the final internment at the Geese Park. 

Along the streets were mourners, sympathizers and service personnel lined up to pay their last respect to their late President and Commander in Chief.
