New computer software helps autistic communicate

A special computer programme called ‘e-Mintza’ – Basque for “electronic language“ - has been developed to help autistic people overcome communication barriers.
 
The application uses pictograms to create games using images and sounds.
 
It is the brainchild of Doctor Joaquin Fuentes, who heads up the child and teenage psychiatric department in San Sebastian’s largest medical centre.
