Breast cancer cases among Ghanaian women on the increase - WHO report

Breast Cancer among Ghanaian women is on the increase according to statistics from the World Health Organization, WHO. 

A situation that has been attributed to lack of awareness and late diagnosis of the disease.  

WHO states that breast cancer is the most common cancer among African women between the ages of 20 and 50.  

The Head of Department of Surgery at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Professor Joe Clegg-Lamptey, disclosed this during the observance of Breast Cancer Information Day for doctors and nurses in Accra.  

The day was organised by an NGO, Reach for Recovery Ghana to increase awareness among  women and also men who can be at risk of the disease.
