MoFA launches new bio-agent for mealybugs The Plant Protection and Regulatory Services Directorate, of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), has come out with a biological control agent to control mealy bugs affecting papaya plants. The bio agent which is in a form of an insect feeds on the mealybugs and multiplies within a short period to all areas of the farm. The Head of the Directorate, Versper Suglo, said the bio agent if applied effectively, will assist Ghana to regain its position as the fourth largest papaya exporter in the next two years. Mr. Suglo was addressing Papaya farmers at Bawjiase in the Central region. GBC NEWS
