Pope appoints new Metropolitan Archbishop of Kumasi

Pope Benedict has appointed Most Rev. Gabriel Justice Anokye as Metropolitan Archbishop of Kumasi. Until his elevation, Most Rev. Anokye was Bishop of the Obuasi diocese.

Announcing the appointment in Accra, the Assistant Secretary General of the National Catholic Secretariat, Father Emmanuel Abbey-Quaye, said this brings the number of vacant dioceses in Ghana to two.
