The Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) has announced that as part of efforts to ensure free flow of traffic orderliness at the Independence Square for the 6th March certain roads will be closed to motorists.

The roads include the 28th February Road - from the CEPS headquarter to castle junction, Osu cemetery traffic light on Lokko street and Castle road- from Avenue intersection to Osu cemetery traffic light.

A statement issued in Accra by S.K Tetteh said to avoid chaotic traffic situation only vehicles with state protocols permits and those that belong to essential agencies will be allowed access through the blocked roads to enter into the inner perimeter of the Square.

“Traffic personnel will be deployed at all critical intersections and points to manage and control the traffic,” it noted.

The statement noted that personnel will assist motorists onto alternative routes and direct those attending the event to the appropriate car park.

“There will be a towing vehicle on standby and motorists who park indiscriminately will suffer a penalty by paying for the towing fee,” it added.
