The Daily Graphic stresses the need for the country to make use of the spillage from the Bagre Dam from Burkina Faso which has become an annual affair. It says for the past years the Spillage has resulted in the destruction of farmlands, houses, property and loss of lives in the three regions of the north. To the paper, it is about time the country harnessed all available resources to speed up the socio-economic development needs of the people. It says the paradox of the present situation is that while the spillage destroys life and property, on other occasions, blocking the flood from entering Ghanaians territory leads to low power generation capacity leaving many in the dark. It says while it appreciates the decision by the Burkinabe authorities to spill the dam in order to save their dam and protect life and property, they must also take into account those downstream. The Graphic pleads with people living in flood areas to heed the call of authorities to move upstream.
